K-Pop Songs: V – View by SHINEE

I’ll tell you a little secret: “View” was the first ever SHINEE song I ever heard. Nor am I the biggest fan of them but that’s because I’ve never taken the time to go through their back catalogue. I do really like the members individually, especially TAEMIN and MINHO, but the first time I ever saw SHINEE was in their “View” MV.

Odd was released 18 May 2015 with title track “View”. As I said in the intro, this was the first ever song I heard of SHINEEs as well as the album being the first I’d heard from start to finish of SHINEEs as well. The album is superb and I love this song so much. I tend to think my standards of a group are based off the first song I ever hear of them and they quickly become my favourite songs of theirs, “View” is the same for me.

For those that do follow my page, you should know I’m not a fan of the retro/80s vibe that SHINEE tend to do most of the time but with “View” – I love it! I know that’s crazy hypocritical of me but this song grew on me for sure.

I don’t know if it’s because of how catchy the song is, the cool MV or the fantastic multi-cultural representation from the extras or JONGHYUNs Hail Mary high-note. It’s probably a combination of all those things but regardless of the reason, this song is great!

I don’t think much needs to be said about this song, album or group. Most people should know of SHINEE by now. As we also should know as well is JONGHYUNs most recent album Poet |Artist. I have heard the album and was thinking of doing a review for it but I held back and decided not to. For those who haven’t heard it, you need to listen to it. There are a lot of songs on there that are absolutely fantastic – my favourite being “Take the Dive” – but it’s a fantastic body of work.
