Guys, I’m about to have a break down. SM STATION brings out such amazing songs and the fact we’re getting an EXO song without it being titled as “EXO” makes me so overly happy. The main reason behind this freak out though is because of SEHUN…this mans is my EXO bias and I freak out every time I see him do anything. I’m interested to see what roles both rappers will play in the song especially since CHANYEOL is a great vocalist as well so I’m excited to see which direction they’re both going to go in.
If there was a way I could not watch this yet already know what the song sounds and the MV looks like – I would. I’m honestly struggling right now and the only way to fix it is to watch the damn thing.
I’ll really try to control my fan girl though and focus on the MV as a whole and of course the sound of it.
Ok, I’m ready.
What jumps out straight away is the colour palette. I love pastel colours and clashing patterns so I’m enjoying it so far. But I start to have a mini meltdown at the sound of CHANYEOLs humming. This man is going to sing I just know it!
The song is light but packs a hefty beat to it. I’m seeing a theme with the past SM STATION songs released so far and I enjoy it. I’m not sure if the sound of this song is due to the changing season in Korea right now but I like it.
The set is really cool with its rotating rooms. It’s really creative and an interesting idea and I’m sure the boys had fun playing around on it.
SEHUN is singing. I repeat, SEHUN IS SINGING! Ok I’m done.
The catchiness of the chorus is so so good. While maintaining the lightness of the verses, the repetition of “We Young” is great. I can picture myself listening to this song as I’m in the car or as a way to relax after a long day at work.
Time for a little fan girling…
Who told CHANYEOL to bring his arms out?! And who is GODS NAME oiled him up?!
SEHUN. IS NOT. WEARING. A. SHIRT.
ZERO SHIRT ON THIS MAN.
I don’t know why they decided to include choreography that made SEHUNs jacket open up like that…I also don’t know if I’m upset or angry about it… I’m just, not having a great time right now….
Aside from the momentary lapse of sanity on my part, the increase in rapping through this middle section is not skipped passed. I’m not sure if they’re going to continue going a little bit harder in the last part or they’re going to revert to the earlier slower pace. Either way, I enjoy the direction of the song.
The cute moments of choreography are great, both the individual shots and the group dance at the very end. The bridge is also a really good moment for both CHANYEOL and SEHUN and I found myself break out in goosebumps at their singing. I feel like it’s a nice way to wrap up an amazing song and I walk away feeling relaxed and in a good mood. I’m not sure if this was what they were hoping for but I’m ever so thankful to SM for making this collaboration happen. It’s a different style compared to the music EXO makes yet I still love it as if it was an actual EXO song.
There were a lot of moments that stood out to me – CHANYEOLs singing, the upbeat catchiness of the chorus and of course the middle section of the song… I’m not sure who was in charge of the production and the lyrics for this song but I feel like they made a wise decision in the two artists as individuals and the fact they paired them together.
MV rating: 8.5/10
Song rating: 9/10
